Kristina’s Birthday Fundraiser

We had a fantastic fund raising event for the clinic last month at Beeb’s Sports Bar and Grill in Livermore. The event was held on what would have been Kristina’s 25th birthday and it was an event she would have loved. Kristina’s father, David Chesterman, was able to visit the clinic for a week last summer and was blown away by the progress made. With the primary structure done, the building team was moving on to the final stages and we hoped to raise the last amount of funding we needed.

With the overwhelming support of the Kristina’s family, friends, and the community the sold out banquet and raffle was a great success. One of the highlights was a video that David and Daniel Chesterman put together with the footage David had taken on his trip to Nigeria last summer. He captured some really great footage of the wonderful village where the clinic is being built. There are also interviews with James Umekwe, the man leading this project on the ground both here and in Nigeria, and some of the great nurses volunteering their time.

We’ve uploaded it here to share with everyone. The medical shots in the video are in a smaller building that has been functioning as the clinic in the village to date. In an upcoming post we will share what a huge improvement the new facility will be for these amazing people. Please enjoy.
